What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) at Stage III, aiming to assess the invasiveness and proliferation ability of the tumor through non-invasive imaging methods. The study addresses the challenge of predicting patient prognosis without relying on surgical resection, which is only available to a small percentage of patients. By utilizing imaging assessments, the research seeks to provide valuable prognostic information that can assist in clinical decision-making for patients who are not candidates for surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18-80 diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma who are eligible for curative-intent hepatectomy.
Not a fit: Patients with major vascular invasion, extrahepatic metastasis, or those unwilling to follow-up may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a non-invasive method for predicting the prognosis of HCC patients, improving treatment planning and outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using imaging for prognosis in HCC is gaining interest, this specific methodology remains novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
