What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess how adherence to the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol affects patient-reported outcomes, surgical outcomes, and stress responses in patients undergoing pancreatic surgery. Conducted over three years at two hospitals in Greece, the study will enroll consecutive patients who will follow the ERAS pathway, which includes preoperative education, nutritional support, and postoperative care. Data on patient characteristics, surgical techniques, complications, and quality of life will be collected at various time points to evaluate the effectiveness of the ERAS program.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who are fluent in Greek and are scheduled for pancreatic surgery.

Not a fit: Patients under 18, those unable or unwilling to participate, or those undergoing other surgical procedures may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved recovery and quality of life for patients undergoing pancreatic surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with ERAS protocols in various surgical settings, suggesting potential success for this approach in pancreatic surgery.
