What this trial studies
This observational registry aims to assess the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on cardiac patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, France. It will collect data on the characteristics and outcomes of both COVID-positive and COVID-negative patients suffering from conditions such as Acute Coronary Syndrome and Heart Failure. The study will focus on patients aged 18 and older who have been admitted since March 20, 2020, and will involve gathering informed consent from participants. The findings could provide valuable insights into how COVID-19 affects cardiac health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have been admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit during the specified timeframe.
Not a fit: Patients who are minors or who have explicitly opposed participation in the study will not benefit from this research.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of the interplay between COVID-19 and cardiac conditions, potentially leading to improved treatment strategies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored the impact of COVID-19 on various health conditions, suggesting that this approach could yield valuable insights, although the specific focus on cardiac patients in this context is relatively novel.
