What this trial studies
This observational study assesses the impact of new guidelines for post-cardiac arrest management on patient survival over a 14-year period. It involves a retrospective multicenter cohort analysis from two hospitals in Italy, focusing on patients who were resuscitated from cardiac arrest and admitted to intensive care. The study examines the implementation of guidelines introduced by the European Resuscitation Council and the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine in 2010, 2015, and 2021. Data will be collected from patients admitted to the ICUs of the participating hospitals between January 1, 2011, and May 30, 2024.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who have been resuscitated from cardiac arrest and admitted to the ICU.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those not admitted to the specified intensive care units will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve post-cardiac arrest management practices and enhance survival rates for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that guideline implementation can significantly improve outcomes in cardiac arrest patients, suggesting this approach is promising.
