What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of various artificial intelligence techniques to enhance the characterization and post-processing of images for patients with musculoskeletal tumors. It compares texture parameters of tumors assessed through MRI and ultra-high resolution CT, using histological analysis as the reference standard. The study aims to determine the diagnostic performance of these imaging techniques in distinguishing between benign and malignant lesions, as well as to assess the accuracy of AI-based tumor segmentation tools.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients suspected of having a bone or soft-tissue tumor who are referred for imaging for initial characterization and staging.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have renal insufficiency, or have contraindications to MRI or CT will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic accuracy for patients with musculoskeletal tumors, allowing for better treatment planning.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using advanced imaging techniques and AI for tumor characterization, indicating a potential for success in this approach.
