Evaluating muscle activation during a knee examination test
Muscle Activation Patterns During the McMurray's Test for Knee Examination
This study is testing how different knee positions during a specific knee exam can help activate important thigh muscles in healthy adults to improve rehab for knee injuries.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the activation patterns of the vastus medialis and vastus lateralis muscles during the McMurray knee examination test in various knee positions. Using surface electromyography, the study will involve 30 healthy participants aged 18-45, who will perform the McMurray test at different knee flexion and rotation angles. The goal is to identify which position optimally activates the vastus medialis muscle, potentially improving rehabilitation strategies for knee injuries.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy adults aged 18-45 with no history of knee pathology.
Not a fit: Patients with neurological or muscular disorders or contraindications to electromyography may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance rehabilitation programs for knee injuries by optimizing the McMurray test for better muscle activation assessment.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study is novel, similar studies using electromyography to assess muscle activation during physical tests have shown promising results.
