What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effects of mentalization-based group psychotherapy on patients diagnosed with anxiety and/or depression. A total of 100 participants will be recruited from community mental health services and randomized into two groups: one receiving standard acceptance and commitment therapy and the other receiving the new mentalization-based intervention. Assessments will be conducted at baseline and after three months to measure various psychological outcomes. The study aims to ensure participant safety and data integrity throughout the trial.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a diagnosis of anxiety or depression who possess minimal relational skills for group therapy.
Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive deficits, structured suicidal ideation, or certain other psychiatric diagnoses may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a new therapeutic option for patients struggling with anxiety and depression.
How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific mentalization-based intervention is relatively novel in the context of anxiety and depression treatment.
