Evaluating long-term outcomes of surgical treatment for peri-implantitis
Long-term Surgical Treatment Outcome of Peri-implantitis Lesions

What this trial studies
This observational study assesses the long-term surgical treatment outcomes of patients with peri-implantitis at multiple institutions, including Malmö University and Blekinge Hospital. Patients treated since 2014 will undergo regular annual evaluations after their surgical intervention, focusing on clinical and radiographic healing assessments. Additionally, inflammatory peri-implant lesions from 200 future patients will be collected for detailed histological, microbiological, and molecular analysis. The study aims to provide insights into the effectiveness of surgical treatments for this condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients who have undergone surgical treatment for peri-implantitis since 2014 and are willing to participate in regular follow-ups.
Not a fit: Patients who have experienced implant loss will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve treatment protocols for patients suffering from peri-implantitis, leading to better long-term outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on peri-implantitis treatment, this specific long-term observational approach focusing on regular assessments and detailed analysis of lesions is relatively novel.
