What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of a brief single-session intervention (SSI) combined with various incentive strategies to encourage participation in wellness-related activities among first-year undergraduate students. Participants will receive education and strategies to improve a wellness goal, such as sleep or physical activity, and will choose daily behaviors to support that goal. They will be randomly assigned to one of four incentive conditions, which vary based on whether the incentive is given to the individual or a charity and whether a restorative incentive is provided for missed activities. The study seeks to identify which incentive strategy is most effective in promoting adherence to wellness behaviors.

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are first-year undergraduate students who own a mobile device.

Not a fit: Patients who are not undergraduate students or do not own a mobile device may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help develop effective strategies to enhance student wellness and engagement in healthy behaviors.
