Evaluating heart function in chronic kidney disease patients using ultrasound
Early Evaluation of Left Ventricular Systolic Function Impairment in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease by Multimodal Ultrasonography
This study is testing if a special ultrasound can help find heart problems earlier in people with chronic kidney disease compared to standard methods.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the effectiveness of multimodal ultrasound techniques in the early detection of left ventricular systolic dysfunction in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It will compare the first-phase ejection fraction (EF1) with other echocardiographic methods to determine which is more sensitive in identifying heart dysfunction. Participants will undergo echocardiography, and results will be compared between healthy volunteers and CKD patients. The study seeks to provide insights into the early identification of heart issues in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are hospitalized patients with chronic kidney disease and a left ventricular ejection fraction of 50% or greater.
Not a fit: Patients with primary hypertension, diabetes, congenital heart disease, or those who are pregnant or lactating may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to earlier detection and management of heart dysfunction in patients with chronic kidney disease.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using multimodal ultrasound is gaining interest, the specific application of EF1 in this context is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
