What this trial studies
This observational study will assess cognitive, physical, and nutritional performance in patients with acute leukemia receiving intensive chemotherapy. Conducted at a single center, the study involves evaluations at admission, discharge, and three weeks after starting treatment. Hematologists will oversee patient management while trained rehabilitation specialists and a nutritionist will carry out the assessments. The goal is to understand how these patients perform during treatment and the impact on their quality of life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old diagnosed with acute leukemia who are hospitalized for intensive chemotherapy.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those with medical conditions that limit their ability to participate in study-related tasks may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into improving the quality of life and rehabilitation strategies for acute leukemia patients undergoing chemotherapy.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored rehabilitation in cancer patients, this specific approach focusing on acute leukemia during intensive chemotherapy is relatively novel.
