Evaluating FKBP51s protein levels in glioblastoma patients before and after surgery

FKBP51s: a New Molecular Biomarker for Glioblastoma? Pre- and Post-operative Blood Levels Evaluation of FKBP51s Protein and Correlation With MRI Phenotype

Not applicable Interventional Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS · NCT05793021

What this trial studies

This interventional study aims to explore the relationship between FKBP51s protein levels in blood and MRI phenotypes in adult patients diagnosed with glioblastoma. Participants will undergo blood sampling to measure FKBP51s levels both before and after surgical intervention. The study seeks to establish whether these protein levels correlate with the imaging characteristics observed in MRI scans, potentially providing insights into glioblastoma behavior and treatment outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 years and older with a confirmed diagnosis of glioblastoma who are scheduled for surgery.

Not a fit: Patients without confirmed histological diagnosis of glioblastoma or those lacking necessary radiological documentation may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to a new biomarker for monitoring glioblastoma progression and response to treatment.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of correlating FKBP51s protein levels with MRI phenotypes is novel, similar studies have explored biomarkers in glioblastoma with varying degrees of success.
