What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the impact of a treatment algorithm on financial toxicity experienced by ovarian cancer patients over time. Utilizing the PROFFIT questionnaire, which measures financial distress and its determinants, the study will compare financial scores across different treatment lines. Additionally, it will explore the relationship between financial toxicity, quality of life, treatment-related symptoms, and overall survival. The study is conducted in a multicenter setting within the Italian healthcare context.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 18 and older with confirmed advanced-stage ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer who are about to begin medical treatment.

Not a fit: Patients with major cognitive dysfunction, psychiatric disorders, or those not receiving active treatment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into managing financial distress in ovarian cancer patients, potentially improving their quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on financial toxicity in cancer care are emerging, this specific approach using the PROFFIT questionnaire in ovarian cancer is relatively novel.
