Evaluating exercise capacity and muscle strength in people with chronic low back pain

The Relationship Between Upper Extremity Exercise Capacity, Respiratory and Peripheral Muscle Strength and Level of Disability in Individuals With Chronic Low Back Pain

Observational Kirsehir Ahi Evran Universitesi · NCT06806514

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess the upper extremity exercise capacity of individuals suffering from chronic low back pain and explore its correlation with respiratory and peripheral muscle strength. Participants will be evaluated for various factors including chest expansion, pain levels, disability, fear of movement, and overall quality of life. The study will involve individuals aged 18 to 65 who have experienced chronic low back pain for at least three months, with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure participant safety and relevance.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18-65 who have chronic low back pain lasting at least three months with a pain intensity of 3 or higher on the Visual Analogue Scale.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of cancer, spinal infections, rheumatological disorders, or other specified conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of how exercise capacity relates to muscle strength in chronic low back pain, potentially leading to improved treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While this study explores a specific relationship, similar observational studies have shown promising results in understanding the interplay between exercise capacity and muscle strength in chronic pain conditions.
