Evaluating EEG and Emergence Agitation in Nasal Surgery

The Relationship Between Emergence Agitation and Electroencephalogram in Young Adults Undergoing Nasal Surgery Under General Anesthesia

What this trial studies

This study evaluates the relationship between electroencephalogram (EEG) patterns and emergence agitation in adults undergoing nasal surgery under general anesthesia with sevoflurane. Researchers will perform perioperative EEG measurements and observe the occurrence of emergence agitation, while also recording various patient variables such as anxiety levels and postoperative pain. The goal is to better understand how EEG parameters correlate with emergence agitation in this patient population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 19-55 who are scheduled for nasal surgery under general anesthesia.

Not a fit: Patients with central nervous system diseases or those unable to communicate may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies for emergence agitation in patients undergoing nasal surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated a relationship between EEG patterns and emergence agitation in pediatric patients, but this approach in adults is less explored.
