What this trial studies
This study assesses the safety and effectiveness of an early rehabilitation program for children in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving intensive early mobilization sessions and the other receiving a conservative mobilization approach. The early rehabilitation group will undergo 14 sessions over two weeks, while the control group will have only 2 sessions. The goal is to determine if early mobilization can improve recovery outcomes for critically ill pediatric patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 1-18 years admitted to the PICU due to critical illness.
Not a fit: Patients with increased intracranial pressure, a history of brain surgery, or those admitted for less than three days may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance recovery and rehabilitation for critically ill children in the PICU.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with early mobilization in critical care settings, indicating potential for success in this approach.
