What this trial studies

This multicenter observational study aims to assess the prevalence of osteo-metabolic complications, such as osteoporosis and vertebral fractures, in patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Approximately 150-200 outpatients from the Endocrinology Unit of IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital and the Nuclear Medicine Unit of Spedali Civili di Brescia will be included. Data will be collected retrospectively, including clinical, biochemical, and radiological information, while ensuring patient anonymity. Participants will provide informed consent before their data is used in the study.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a histological diagnosis of thyroid carcinoma.

Not a fit: Patients without a diagnosis of thyroid cancer or those who do not meet the inclusion criteria will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of bone health in thyroid cancer patients, leading to better management and treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on related topics, this specific approach to evaluating osteo-metabolic complications in thyroid cancer patients is relatively novel.
