Evaluating biomarkers and heart function in chronic heart failure patients
Prognostic and Diagnostic Value of Serial Biomarker Measurements, Echocardiographic Techniques and Cardiopulmonary Function Tests in Patients With Chronic Heart Failure.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine · NCT02776384

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the prognostic and diagnostic value of new biomarkers in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). It aims to assess disease progression through these biomarkers and compare echocardiography results with cardiopulmonary function tests. The study will relate these cardiac functional parameters to clinical outcomes, providing insights into the management of CHF.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older with NYHA class II to IV symptoms and confirmed cardiac structural changes.
Not a fit: Patients with severe comorbidities or those unable to participate in follow-up visits may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved methods for assessing disease progression in chronic heart failure patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using biomarkers and echocardiography for assessing heart failure, indicating that this approach has potential.
