What this trial studies

This study aims to assess temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, cervical posture, balance, dual-task performance, and social adaptation skills in individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Conducted at Bartın Lider Special Education and Rehabilitation Center, participants will be divided into two groups: those with ASD and a control group with typical motor development. Various assessment tools, including the Timed Up and Go test and the 10-Meter Walk Test, will be utilized to gather data on the participants' physical and social capabilities. The study seeks to fill a gap in the literature regarding the relationship between TMJ issues and social adaptation in individuals with ASD.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder who are currently enrolled in a special education and rehabilitation center.

Not a fit: Patients with comorbid secondary health conditions or those who have undergone surgery in the past six months may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and interventions for enhancing social adaptation and physical function in individuals with autism.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically addressing the dual-task skills and TMJ issues in individuals with ASD, the study's multifaceted approach is innovative and may provide new insights.
