Evaluating Annexin A2 on Monocytes in Antiphospholipid Syndrome
Evaluation of Cell Membrane Expression of Annexin A2 on Monocytes by Flow Cytometry in Primary Antiphospholipid Syndrome
This study is testing how a protein called Annexin A2 on immune cells might be linked to the causes of antiphospholipid syndrome in patients.

What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the expression of Annexin A2 on the surface of monocytes in patients with primary antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) using flow cytometry. Annexin A2 is a significant protein involved in the regulation of fibrinolysis and has been identified as a new autoantigen in APS. By analyzing the cell membrane expression of this protein, the study seeks to understand its role in the pathogenesis of APS and the associated mechanisms that contribute to the disease. Blood samples will be collected from eligible APS patients to conduct these evaluations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults diagnosed with primary antiphospholipid syndrome who meet the revised criteria for the condition.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old, those with solid or hematological malignancies, other autoimmune diseases, or cirrhosis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of APS and lead to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of evaluating Annexin A2 in APS may be novel, similar studies have shown promise in understanding the roles of autoantigens in autoimmune diseases.
