What this trial studies
This trial aims to assess the effectiveness of a novel exercise and self-management strategy for adults undergoing cancer treatment. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups, with one group receiving supervised exercise sessions alongside educational support. The study seeks to address the gap in physical activity services available to cancer survivors in Ontario, as many do not meet recommended activity levels during treatment. By implementing this program, the trial hopes to improve both physical and psychosocial well-being for individuals with cancer.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old with any type or stage of cancer who are currently receiving treatment and have been cleared for exercise.
Not a fit: Patients with chronic conditions, cognitive impairments, or injuries that prevent participation in moderate intensity exercise may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could enhance the quality of life for cancer patients by promoting regular physical activity during treatment.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with exercise interventions for cancer patients, indicating that this approach is supported by existing evidence.
