What this trial studies

EuroHeart is a prospective, multicentre, observational registry that continuously collects standardized clinical data on consecutive adult patients with ACS, heart failure, or atrial fibrillation. Participating hospitals record adherence to European Society of Cardiology (ESC) quality indicators and enter patients into a 12-month follow-up to capture clinical events and outcomes. The initiative harmonizes variables across centers to enable benchmarking and support continuous quality-of-care improvement. Collected data are used to monitor practice patterns and identify gaps between guideline-recommended treatments and routine care.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults (≥18 years) hospitalized for acute coronary syndrome or being treated for heart failure or atrial fibrillation at participating centers who can provide informed consent are the intended participants.

Not a fit: Patients under 18, those treated outside participating hospitals, or those who do not consent will not be enrolled and therefore will not directly benefit from the registry's quality-improvement efforts.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, it could help hospitals close gaps in guideline-recommended care and reduce complications and deaths after ACS and other cardiac conditions.

How similar studies have performed: Large national and international cardiovascular registries (for example SWEDEHEART and GRACE) have shown that standardized data collection and feedback can improve guideline adherence and outcomes, and EuroHeart builds on this experience.
