What this trial studies
This observational study aims to create a prospective multicenter cohort of patients diagnosed with chronic hepatitis B in South Korea. The cohort will facilitate the collection of data on the natural history of chronic hepatitis B among Korean patients, which is currently lacking. By following patients who have been diagnosed for over six months, the study seeks to inform future clinical guidelines and improve management strategies for chronic hepatitis B in Korea. The project is supported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Korea.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Korean adults aged 19 and older with a diagnosis of chronic hepatitis B for more than six months.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of hepatocellular carcinoma or other severe comorbidities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management and treatment guidelines for chronic hepatitis B patients in Korea.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on chronic hepatitis B specific to Korean patients, similar cohort studies in other populations have shown success in improving treatment outcomes.
