What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Erector Spina Plane Block (ESPB) combined with core stabilization exercises in improving functionality for patients suffering from lumbar disc herniation. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving the ESPB along with stabilization exercises, and the other receiving only stabilization exercises. The study will assess outcomes through questionnaires measuring pain levels and functional disability before and after an 8-week exercise program. The goal is to determine if the addition of ESPB enhances the benefits of exercise in managing low back pain.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-50 diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation and experiencing low back pain for more than 6 weeks.

Not a fit: Patients with severe spinal stenosis, systemic inflammatory diseases, or those who have had spinal surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve pain management and functional outcomes for patients with lumbar disc herniation.

How similar studies have performed: While the ESPB technique is gaining attention, this specific combination with stabilization exercises is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
