Endoscopic surgery for iliopsoas tendon pain relief

Study Evaluating the Clinical Improvement Obtained by Endoscopic Tenotomy of the Ilio-Psoas, at the Level of the Lesser Trochanter Versus at the Level of the Acetabular Notch, on Psoas Cup Impingements After Total Hip Prosthesis

NA · GCS Ramsay Santé pour l'Enseignement et la Recherche · NCT05950022

What this trial studies

This interventional study compares two surgical techniques for endoscopic tenotomy of the iliopsoas tendon in patients experiencing anterior hip pain due to tendon conflict with a prosthetic cup. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive the procedure either at the lesser trochanter or the acetabular notch. The effectiveness of each technique will be assessed using the Oxford Hip Score at baseline, 2 months, and over 12 months post-surgery. The study aims to provide insights into which surgical approach yields better outcomes for patients suffering from iliopsoas tendinopathy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a confirmed diagnosis of iliopsoas tendinopathy who have not responded to conservative treatments.

Not a fit: Patients with revision total hip prosthesis or those undergoing other surgical interventions during the study may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and pain relief for patients with iliopsoas tendinopathy.

How similar studies have performed: While similar surgical approaches have been explored, this specific comparative study is novel in its focus on iliopsoas tenotomy techniques.
