Effects of time-restricted eating and exercise on health and body composition
The Effect of Time-restricted Eating Combined With Exercise Training on Body Composition and Cardiometabolic Health; Randomized Controlled Trial (TERA)
NA · Tel Aviv University · NCT05167903

What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of time-restricted eating (TRE) combined with resistance training (RT) on muscle mass, strength, and cardiometabolic health in men with metabolic syndrome. Participants aged 40-60 with a BMI of 25-33 kg/m² will be randomly assigned to either a TRE+RT group or a normal diet (ND)+RT group. Over a 10-week period, all participants will engage in supervised resistance training three times a week, while changes in body composition, muscle mass, and other health metrics will be assessed using advanced imaging techniques. The study aims to provide insights into how dietary patterns and exercise can improve health outcomes in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are males aged 40-60 with metabolic syndrome and a BMI between 25-33 kg/m² who have not engaged in exercise training in the past year.
Not a fit: Patients with cardiopulmonary diseases, recent regular exercise training, or those unable to comply with the study protocol may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved strategies for managing metabolic syndrome through dietary and exercise interventions.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with similar approaches combining dietary interventions and exercise, suggesting potential for success in this trial.
