What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of Suspension Therapy on the mobility and balance of children aged 3 to 6 years with Down syndrome. It is a randomized controlled trial that will include 26 participants diagnosed with mild to moderate mental retardation. The study will utilize various assessment tools, including the Pediatric Balance Scale and the Four Square Step Test, to measure changes in balance and mobility before and after the intervention. Participants will undergo Suspension Therapy five days a week for one hour each session, with data analyzed using descriptive statistical tools.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 3 to 6 years with Down syndrome and mild to moderate mental retardation who can follow instructions and stand and walk.
Not a fit: Patients with cardiovascular diseases, visual or hearing impairments, or orthopedic limitations may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve mobility and balance in children with Down syndrome, potentially reducing their risk of falls.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on Suspension Therapy specifically for Down syndrome, similar interventions have shown promise in improving balance and mobility in other pediatric populations.
