What this trial studies

This study investigates how listening to murottal (Islamic verse recitation) and classical music during lower extremity orthopedic surgery with spinal anesthesia affects postoperative pain intensity and interleukin 6 levels, an inflammatory marker. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either murottal, classical music, or standard care, with pain intensity measured using a numeric rating scale and interleukin 6 levels assessed through blood samples. The goal is to determine if these non-pharmacological interventions can effectively reduce pain and inflammation compared to standard care. Regular check-ups will ensure participant safety and therapy success.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Muslim patients aged 18 to 60 scheduled for elective lower extremity orthopedic surgery.

Not a fit: Patients with consciousness, neurological, or cognitive disorders, as well as those with hearing impairments or extreme BMI, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a non-pharmacological method for managing postoperative pain and inflammation, improving recovery outcomes for patients.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of music therapy in pain management has been explored, the specific combination of murottal and classical music in this context is relatively novel.
