What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the impact of probiotics on the clearance of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in patients with chronic hepatitis B. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving standard antiviral therapy alone and the other receiving antiviral therapy in conjunction with probiotics. The study will compare the HBV clearance rates between these two groups to determine if probiotics enhance the effectiveness of antiviral treatment. The research is retrospective, analyzing existing patient data to draw conclusions about the potential benefits of probiotics.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with chronic hepatitis B who are undergoing antiviral therapy.
Not a fit: Patients with malignancies, other liver diseases, or those who are pregnant may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into a novel adjunctive treatment for improving HBV clearance in chronic hepatitis B patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of probiotics in liver disease is an emerging area of interest, this specific approach to enhancing HBV clearance has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
