What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the combined effects of percussion and diaphragmatic breathing exercises on airway clearance in elderly patients diagnosed with pneumonia. Participants will be randomly assigned to two groups: one receiving both percussion and breathing exercises, and the other receiving only breathing exercises. The intervention will consist of 12 sessions over four weeks, with assessments conducted using various questionnaires to evaluate breathlessness, dyspnea, exertion levels, and quality of life. Data will be analyzed using SPSS to determine the effectiveness of the interventions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are males and females aged 40-60 who are vitally stable and diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia.

Not a fit: Patients with heart disease, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, or other pulmonary complications may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve airway clearance and quality of life for pneumonia patients.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific combination of interventions in elderly pneumonia patients is relatively novel.
