What this trial studies
This observational study investigates how systemic isotretinoin treatment affects adrenal steroid and sex hormone levels in young women with severe acne vulgaris. It focuses on understanding the hormonal changes that occur during isotretinoin therapy, which is often prescribed when other treatments fail. The study will include female patients aged 14 to 20 who have been diagnosed with severe to moderate acne. By analyzing hormone levels before and after treatment, the study aims to provide insights into the relationship between acne and hormonal fluctuations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are female patients aged 14 to 20 with severe to moderate acne vulgaris.
Not a fit: Patients who are male, have received certain hormone therapies recently, or have specific gland diseases or psychiatric disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of hormonal influences on acne and improve treatment strategies for severe cases.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown a strong association between hormonal levels and acne, suggesting that this approach may yield valuable insights.
