Effects of exercise on muscle health in cancer patients undergoing treatment
The Relationships of Resistance Exercise, Walking, Myokine Secretion, Sarcopenia, Muscle Loss, Quality of Life, and Predictors in Cancer Patients Receiving Chemoradiotheray

What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of resistance exercise and walking on muscle health and quality of life in cancer patients receiving chemoradiotherapy. It aims to explore the relationships between myokine secretion, muscle mass, strength, and sarcopenia, which are critical factors affecting patient outcomes during treatment. By measuring blood concentrations of myokines and assessing physical performance, the study seeks to identify individuals at risk of sarcopenia and evaluate the effectiveness of exercise interventions. The ultimate goal is to improve the overall well-being and survival rates of these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are cancer patients aged 20-70 who are receiving chemoradiotherapy and can participate in exercise.
Not a fit: Patients who cannot communicate in Mandarin, Taiwanese, or Hakka may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance muscle health and quality of life for cancer patients undergoing chemoradiotherapy.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific relationships being studied are novel, previous studies have shown that exercise can positively impact muscle health in cancer patients.
