Effects of exercise on cardiovascular responses in people living with HIV/AIDS
Autonomic and Hemodynamic Responses to Muscular Ergoreflex Activation in People Living With HIV/AIDS: Effects of Exercise Training.
This study is testing whether regular exercise can improve heart and blood pressure responses in people living with HIV/AIDS who have trouble exercising.

What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates how regular exercise impacts cardiovascular responses in individuals living with HIV/AIDS who experience exercise intolerance. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an exercise training group, which will engage in moderate-intensity physical activity three times a week for 12 weeks, or a control group that remains inactive. The study aims to measure changes in blood pressure and autonomic responses during specific tests to assess the effects of exercise on muscle ergoreflex activation. Additionally, a comparison group of inactive HIV-uninfected individuals will be included to provide further insights.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with HIV for at least five years, on stable antiretroviral therapy, and asymptomatic.
Not a fit: Patients who regularly engage in physical exercise or have significant comorbidities such as coronary artery disease or diabetes may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve exercise tolerance and cardiovascular health in patients living with HIV/AIDS.
How similar studies have performed: While the effects of exercise on cardiovascular health in HIV patients have been explored, this specific focus on ergoreflex activation is relatively novel.
