What this trial studies
This study investigates how open and closed kinetic chain exercises impact upper extremity spasticity and motor dexterity in stroke patients. It will involve 50 hemiplegic participants who will undergo evaluations of their muscle properties and tone before engaging in the exercises. The research aims to provide insights into effective rehabilitation strategies for improving arm function in individuals recovering from stroke. The study will be conducted at İstinye University Hospital and its affiliated rehabilitation center in Istanbul.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are stroke patients with hemiplegia who are in the subacute or chronic phase of recovery and can sit unsupported.
Not a fit: Patients who have received Botox treatment in the last six months or have other neurological conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved rehabilitation techniques for enhancing arm movement and reducing spasticity in stroke patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar exercise interventions for stroke rehabilitation, indicating potential for success in this approach.
