What this trial studies

This study evaluates how consuming oranges may influence carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in individuals diagnosed with Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD). Participants will be divided into two groups: one will receive dietary supplementation with fresh oranges, while the other will follow a balanced diet without oranges. The aim is to assess whether the polyphenols in oranges can improve metabolic profiles and reduce risks associated with MAFLD. The study seeks to identify dietary factors that can help prevent or mitigate metabolic diseases.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 30 to 65 years who have been diagnosed with MAFLD.

Not a fit: Patients with gastroesophageal reflux diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases, oncological diseases, or those on special diets or anticoagulants may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into dietary interventions that improve liver health and metabolic profiles in patients with MAFLD.

How similar studies have performed: While there is evidence supporting the health benefits of polyphenols in fruits, this specific approach to using oranges for MAFLD is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
