What this trial studies

This study investigates the impact of diesel exhaust exposure on healthy individuals by conducting a cross-over double-blind design. Participants will be exposed to diesel fumes or filtered air for two hours, after which various cardiovascular parameters will be assessed, including endothelial function, arterial stiffness, and inflammatory markers. Measurements will be taken before exposure and at two and twenty-four hours post-exposure to evaluate the acute effects of diesel exhaust on vascular health.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy individuals without any chronic diseases.

Not a fit: Patients with chronic cardiovascular or respiratory diseases, as well as pregnant individuals, will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the cardiovascular risks associated with diesel exhaust exposure, potentially leading to improved public health guidelines.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated significant cardiovascular effects from diesel exhaust exposure, suggesting that this approach is supported by existing literature.
