What this trial studies
This study evaluates how combined cognitive and aerobic training impacts cognitive functioning and quality of life in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). It aims to fill a gap in existing literature by comparing the effectiveness of combined training versus cognitive training alone. The study hypothesizes that the integration of aerobic exercise, known to enhance brain function, with cognitive training will yield superior outcomes. Participants will engage in structured training sessions designed to improve both cognitive skills and physical fitness, potentially leading to better daily functioning and quality of life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are older adults aged 60 and above who are independent and have mild cognitive impairment as indicated by specific MMSE scores.
Not a fit: Patients with severe psychiatric diseases, significant neurological impairments, or those unable to participate in physical activity will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance cognitive function and quality of life for patients with mild cognitive impairment.
How similar studies have performed: While previous studies have shown positive effects of cognitive and aerobic training independently, this study's direct comparison of the two approaches is novel.
