Effects of cognitive tasks on manual dexterity in older adults
The EFFECT of DIFFERENT COGNITIVE TASKS on MANUAL DEXTERITY and DUAL TASK PERFORMANCE in GERIATRIC INDIVIDUALS

What this trial studies
This study investigates how different cognitive tasks impact manual dexterity and dual task performance in geriatric individuals aged 65 to 84. It aims to understand the relationship between cognitive function and the ability to perform tasks that require hand coordination, which is essential for daily living activities. Participants will be assessed for their ability to perform dual tasks while maintaining dexterity, providing insights into how cognitive load affects physical performance in older adults.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are older adults aged 65 to 84 who can cooperate and do not have significant vision or hearing impairments.
Not a fit: Patients with neurological, rheumatologic, or neuromuscular diseases affecting dexterity, or those with cognitive impairments indicated by a Mini-Mental State Examination score below 24, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance strategies for improving daily functioning and quality of life in elderly individuals.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research in the area of cognitive tasks and dexterity, this specific approach focusing on geriatric individuals may provide novel insights.
