What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the combined effects of a blow bottle device and postural drainage on elderly patients with moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Participants aged 40 to 70 will be randomly assigned to either a treatment group receiving both interventions or a control group receiving only postural drainage. The study will assess pulmonary function and symptom improvement using spirometry and a cough and sputum scale. Interventions will be administered for 20-25 minutes twice daily over six days a week, with data analyzed using SPSS software.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are elderly individuals aged 40 to 70 diagnosed with moderate to severe COPD who are hemodynamically stable.

Not a fit: Patients with type II diabetes, systemic illnesses, thoracic deformities, or unstable heart conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve respiratory function and quality of life for elderly COPD patients.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific combination of interventions in elderly COPD patients is relatively novel.
