What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the impact of vitamin C administration on triglyceride levels in critically ill patients. It aims to determine whether intravenous vitamin C can effectively lower triglyceride levels in patients admitted to the intensive care unit, particularly those with conditions that often lead to hypertriglyceridemia. The study will compare patients receiving vitamin C treatment to a control group not receiving the treatment, focusing on various factors such as age and duration of vitamin C administration.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include critically ill patients aged 18-99 admitted to the general intensive care unit who are treated with intravenous vitamin C.
Not a fit: Patients who do not meet the inclusion criteria or have missing data will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new therapeutic approach to managing high triglyceride levels in critically ill patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that vitamin C can lower triglyceride levels in ambulatory patients, but this approach in critical care settings is novel and untested.
Eligibility criteria
