What this trial studies

This randomized controlled study investigates the impact of foot reflexology on pain levels and the ankle brachial index in patients suffering from peripheral artery disease (PAD). The study aims to assess whether reflexology can alleviate symptoms such as leg pain and improve blood flow in affected individuals. Participants will receive reflexology treatments while their pain and ankle brachial index will be monitored to evaluate the effectiveness of this intervention.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old diagnosed with peripheral artery disease who do not have fractures, open wounds, or amputations in their lower extremities.

Not a fit: Patients with acute infections, those requiring urgent surgical interventions, or individuals with communication issues such as Alzheimer's or dementia may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a non-invasive method to reduce pain and improve blood circulation in patients with peripheral artery disease.

How similar studies have performed: While reflexology has been explored in various contexts, this specific application for peripheral artery disease is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
