What this trial studies

This study investigates the impact of combined kinetic chain exercises on both static and dynamic strength of the hamstring and quadriceps muscles in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Conducted at the Faculty of Physical Therapy at Cairo University, the trial will measure muscle strength using a handheld dynamometer and assess pain and function through standardized questionnaires. A total of 34 participants will be divided into two groups, with one receiving conventional treatments and the other incorporating kinetic chain exercises into their regimen. The study aims to evaluate improvements in strength, pain levels, and overall knee function.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 38 to 65 with mild to moderate unilateral knee osteoarthritis and specific pain and stiffness criteria.

Not a fit: Patients with neurological disorders, significant cognitive impairment, or recent knee surgeries are unlikely to benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance muscle strength and reduce pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis, improving their quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific combination of kinetic chain exercises in knee osteoarthritis is relatively novel.
