What this trial studies

This study provides an educational program for individuals with bladder cancer who are scheduled to undergo radical cystectomy. Participants will watch videos that teach strategies to minimize negative side effects related to surgery, such as mobility issues and medication management. They will also complete questionnaires to assess the effectiveness of the educational content and their application of learned strategies. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the educational videos alone or in combination with geriatric services and follow-up visits after surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 65 and older who are undergoing radical cystectomy for bladder cancer.

Not a fit: Patients undergoing radical cystectomy for non-cancerous reasons or for cancers other than bladder cancer will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the quality of life and recovery outcomes for bladder cancer patients undergoing surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with educational interventions in surgical settings, indicating potential for positive outcomes in this approach.
