Education on BDNF and its effects on pain levels
Effect of Therapeutic Education on Pain Intensity and BDNF Levels in Patients With Chronic Pain
NA · Universidad Autonoma de Madrid · NCT05623579

What this trial studies
This study focuses on the role of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) in chronic musculoskeletal pain management. It aims to promote neuroplasticity through Pain Neuroscience Education and exercise, targeting maladaptive cognitive patterns that contribute to persistent pain. Participants will receive educational interventions designed to modify BDNF levels, potentially leading to improved pain outcomes. The study will recruit individuals aged 18 to 65 who have experienced musculoskeletal pain for at least three months.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are males and females aged 18 to 65 with chronic musculoskeletal pain lasting at least three months.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic, neurological, oncological, or inflammatory diseases, as well as those with psychiatric conditions or pregnancy, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the quality of life for patients suffering from chronic pain.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of modifying BDNF levels through education is novel, similar studies have shown promise in using educational interventions for pain management.
