What this trial studies
This study evaluates the impact of fever education provided to parents of children aged 1-5 who present to the emergency department with fever. It aims to address the high rates of emergency visits due to parental misinformation and anxiety regarding fever management. The research will involve a randomized controlled design with an experimental group receiving fever education and a control group receiving no intervention. Data will be collected using various scales to assess parental anxiety and fever management before and after the education. The study is set to run from April 2024 to April 2025 with a total of 80 participants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are parents of children aged 1-5 who present to the emergency department with fever and can communicate in Turkish.
Not a fit: Patients whose children have chronic diseases, a history of febrile convulsions, or parents with psychiatric diagnoses may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly reduce parental anxiety and improve fever management in children, leading to better health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there are limited interventional studies focused on parental education for fever management, similar approaches have shown promise in reducing anxiety and improving outcomes in other pediatric conditions.
