What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of trout consumption on cognitive and emotional well-being in young children and their families. It utilizes nutrition education strategies to encourage increased fish consumption, focusing on the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids found in trout. The study involves sensory evaluations, repeated exposure to trout, and child-centered nutrition phrases to assess changes in eating behaviors and brain health. Participants will include children aged 3-9 and their parents, with a focus on those who currently consume fish infrequently.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children aged 3-9 who eat fish less than twice a week and their English or Spanish-speaking parents.
Not a fit: Patients with allergies or dietary restrictions that prevent them from consuming fish will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance cognitive and emotional well-being in children and promote healthier eating habits in families.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes related to fish consumption and cognitive health, suggesting this approach has potential for success.
