What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of new blood and urine tests designed for the early detection of cancer specifically in firefighters. Participants will be recruited from Vincere's First Responder Cancer Screening Program and will provide blood and urine samples for analysis. The study focuses on understanding how well these tests can identify cancer at an early stage among individuals who are at higher risk due to their occupation. The findings could help improve cancer screening protocols for firefighters.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are firefighters aged 18 and older who are currently employed and able to provide blood and urine samples.
Not a fit: Patients with a personal history of cancer in the last 5 years, except for non-melanoma skin cancer, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to earlier cancer detection in firefighters, potentially improving treatment outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on cancer detection in various populations, this specific approach targeting firefighters is relatively novel.
