What this trial studies

This study aims to enhance early detection of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) in patients with psoriasis by implementing a direct-to-patient screening approach. It utilizes electronic medical records to identify psoriasis patients who have not been diagnosed with PsA and randomly assigns them to receive a screening questionnaire or not. The study will compare the rates of rheumatologic evaluations and new PsA diagnoses between the two groups, assessing the effectiveness of the screening method. Additionally, it will analyze the characteristics of PsA patients diagnosed through this screening versus those diagnosed through standard care.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 or older with a diagnosis of psoriasis but no confirmed diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis.

Not a fit: Patients who already have a confirmed diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to earlier diagnoses of Psoriatic Arthritis, improving patient outcomes and management.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using direct-to-patient approaches for screening, suggesting potential success for this method.
