What this trial studies
This project aims to develop and test the Kidney BEAM-KIDS digital platform, designed specifically for children and young people (CYP) aged 6-17 who have undergone kidney transplantation. The platform will provide live and on-demand exercise classes tailored to the needs of CYP, promoting physical activity and peer support. The study will assess the feasibility and acceptability of this intervention, gathering insights from participants, parents, and healthcare professionals to refine the program. Approximately 30 participants will be recruited from pediatric transplant centers to evaluate the platform's impact on their quality of life and physical activity levels.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children and young people aged 6-17 who are attending a pediatric transplant center and are likely to require a kidney transplant within the next 12 months.
Not a fit: Patients who have severe bone disease, cancer, or are unable to engage in physical activity will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this platform could significantly enhance the physical activity levels and overall quality of life for children after kidney transplantation.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on similar digital health interventions for CYP with CKD, the approach of adapting existing platforms for younger populations shows promise and has not been extensively tested.
