What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of diaphragmatic breathing exercises on pain, function, balance, and quality of life in pregnant women experiencing low back pain. Participants will be recruited from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic of İzmir Menemen State Hospital, focusing on those who are between 19 to 29 weeks pregnant and have developed low back pain during their pregnancy. The intervention includes diaphragmatic breathing exercises along with an informational brochure to support the participants. The study aims to assess improvements in various health metrics related to pregnancy and back pain.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are pregnant women aged over 18, between 19 to 29 weeks gestation, with low back pain that began during their pregnancy.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, multiple pregnancies, or other significant medical complications may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly alleviate low back pain and improve overall quality of life for pregnant women.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of diaphragmatic breathing for this population may be novel, similar interventions have shown promise in managing pain and improving quality of life in other contexts.
